We're so excited to welcome in beautiful Louisiana for the DEB2023 School! Below is some practical information about transportation, accomodation, meals and some tips about the (hot) weather. Please reach out to deb2023@lsu.edu if you have any questions.
Location
The DEB2023 School & Symposium will be held on the campus of Louisiana State University.
You will stay at the Azalea Hall student residence on campus.
All meals will be taken at the faculty club, a short walk from the residence building.
The classrooms for the school are located in the Virginia Rice Williams Hall.
The auditorium where the symposium will be held is located in the Biological Sciences building.
Transportation
Flying to and from Baton Rouge airport, the easiest is to take a taxi or rideshare. Public transportation exist but is not very convenient nor reliable. Hotel shuttle may exist depending on where you stay. Please check the airport's webpage for transportation for more information (link here).
Flying to and from New Orleans is possible, Baton Rouge is about an hour away. However, the price difference might not be so big especially since you will probably need to go to the center of New Orleans first to then take a bus to Baton Rouge (e.g., Greyhound). You may have to call a taxi to reach your final destination (hotel, campus) anyway.
Remerber to obtain the proper visa or visa waiver (ESTA). You can mention the address of the Azalea student residence (South Campus Drive, Baton Rouge, LA 70803). Please reach out via email if you need to provide a phone contact.
As of April, a proof of COVID-19 vaccination (not restricted in time) is still required to enter the United States. Check the website of the US consulate/ambassy in your respective country for further details about traveling to the US.
If you will be driving to the LSU campus, you can find public parking spots on the LSU parking app (link here).
Accomodation
School participants will share 2-student rooms in 2-bedrooms apartements.
All linens are provided. There will be laundry services available in the residence hall at no charge. Laundry machines are available on the first floor of the building.
See floorplan and ammenities details about the student residence here.
Where to eat?
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner is included in your registration fee and will be taken at the faculty club (both for School only and School+Symposium attendees).
